THE BUG LIST
1. I hate speed bumps, I drive a sports-bike (crothrocket), which have very stiff suspension and giant bumps like those are painful and dangerous as they kind of jar you out of your seat.
WHY? They exist in order to slow down vehicles and prevent speeding in communities.
2. Motorcycle gas tanks the gas cap is always on top of the tank, and it is almost a guarantee that you will spill some gasoline on the tank, which then has to be cleaned otherwise risk damaging your paint.
WHY? It allows for the already small tank to hold just a little bit more fuel, which goes a long way on a bike that only has a few gallons a another half gallon is huge.
3. Sitting behind old cars that are just leaking toxic fumes at red lights. Motorcyclist have to just sit there and inhale those fumes unless they pass the car, which is illegal in the state of florida but legal in other states.
WHY? It can be dangerous to lane split, and could cause an accident if drivers don't pay attention. So florida has made it illegal
4. Drivers on the road rarely pay attention and are always texting and driving, cutting off other motorists and even changing lanes right into a motorcyclist.
WHY? People want to stay connected to what is going, and they aren't aware of the damage they can cause to themselves and others.
5. I hate being watched over when I'm doing any kind of work. It makes me feel anxious and paranoid I feel more likely to make a mistake.
WHY? Customers want to make sure that the job is being completed correctly, and correct it before it;s finished if it is wrong.
6. Being on the phone or checking it while in a conversation.
WHY? People want to be connected to everything going on, or they may have something important going on or on a time restraint.
7. Listening to loud music in public in a car or apartment, it interrupts others and it rude.
WHY? People get into there music, and naturally want to listen to it louder.
8. Yawning in front of people without covering there mouth it can be gross. Gross because I don't want to see in your mouth.
WHY? People will always have a need to yawn it's natural, but people don't cover there mouths because of laziness or not thinking about it.
9. Where I work at it's always freezing cold. The A/C is set to a specific temperature and no matter how cold it gets the heater never turns on as the system is only programmed for cooling.
WHY? The A/C is programmed the same at all locations to make consistency among locations as well as it cuts down on costs, because heating a large facility/location can be very expensive even more so if a certain supervisor likes it really hot.
10. Automated phone systems, they rarely understand you and it is difficult to get what you really want.
WHY? It cuts down on costs.
11. Taking like 5 minute or more rest periods at the gym on popular equipment. For instance taking a bench and doing a set and then talking to others for a few min then doing another set and repeating meanwhile the bench isn't being used. It then makes a gym session take longer for anyone needing to use a bench as part of there routine.
WHY? Some people don't have the cardio so need to take long breaks or are chatty and use the gym as a social meetup.
12. Dealership hidden fees. I just got done shopping for a new vehicle and the dealership I ended up going with had the highest vehicle price, but lowest dealer fees and it overall ended up being the cheapest.
WHY? The dealers with high hidden fees are just trying to lure people to the dealership where they can try and pressure them to make the sale.
13. Over-packaging things bothers me. You go to the store you buy a product, it comes in a box, then inside that box is a bag, and sometimes in that bag even more bags.
WHY? It allows for food to be used on separate occasions, and get a bunch of information on to the bag such as nutritional facts branding and more.
14. Selling unfinished products. This is becoming more and more of an issue. A company will release products before it is finished and customers then get a sub par product.
WHY? Businesses put strict deadlines on products, and even if they aren't completed they release them to stick to there marketing release date in order to not upset customers in that sense.
15. Vape sticks. They smell gross, they are just as bad as cigarettes, but people think they are safe and can use them in class or in other public locations.
WHY? People just do things because others do it or because of great advertising, and no one ever really looks into the facts.
16. Trying to prevent others from changing lanes. People like to block others from taking there lane, which then can lead to that person driving really slow so they can get over and make there turn, which causes a traffic jam.
WHY? That person doesn't want to miss there turn, and the other person thinks that by allowing that person over it will slow down them and prevent them from getting home in the same amount of time.
17. Holiday shopping. I think federal holidays all stores should be closed. The people who work at those stores have families and should have the opportunity to be able to spend it where there families.
WHY? Businesses want to stay open as long as possible in order to make the most money.
18. Presidents. How does 1 person have the 1/3 of the authority of millions of people. Why should they be given millions of dollars of resources even after they aren't president.
WHY? We have stuck to the motto of if it works why change it?
19. I don't believe in government assistance programs. If you are capable of work then you should be working. That money could be applied for better uses such as making jobs.
WHY? People have become reliant on those funds and it would be difficult to take them away without starving families.
20. Sound on tvs. You're watching a show at say 50 volume and it's perfect then bam commercial break and the 50 volume is so loud it's on the verge of deafening you.
WHY? Commercials and shows are recorded using different settings and equipment so sound will vary.
This was a vary challenging assignment as I really started to struggle on coming up with things that bug me. The first 5 were very easy, but after that it became difficult, and I started having to list things that really don't bug me, I also had to dive into political things. As for the WHY portion I thought that was pretty easy I understand why most things are done. I get very irritated by things if I don't understand them, so if it bothers me I try to understand it more, which helps relieve some of that irritation.
Great bug list Richard Herrin. I agree with you that this assignment was harder than what I originally thought. I feel like when I go through my day, I can easily pick out what bugs me. I would say being out on the road in the winter time really bugs me because of all the Florida snow birds. I can agree with automated phone services….I just push zero until a person answers.
ReplyDeleteRichard,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great bug list. I had a few that I said that were identical to yours. I also said automated voice systems were a bug because it seems that nothing is ever accomplished and I would rather just talk to a representative right off the back. The gym equipment one is also one that bugs me because it wastes everybody's time. I thought the bug list was pretty difficult too. Some were easy but some I had to really think hard about.
